If you want this year to be better than last year, then think better, act better, and do better. Better begins with you! – Steve Keating, CSE (@LeadToday)
Better begins with you! You need to let this thought sink very deep into your psyche and let it be one of your foundational beliefs.
Sadly, the idea of personal responsibility is rapidly declining in our society. What was once commonly assumed, now has to be taught as if it were a new concept. You are 100% responsible for your attitude, outlook, reactions, and decisions for making your life what you want it to be! Not the government or some government program; not your employer; not your family or friends; just YOU!
This concept of personal responsibility should not be something that frightens you or weighs you down with a heavy burden. It should fill you with hope and excitement about your future!
Think about it this way: if you are not happy with your current situation and you believe that your situation is entirely the fault of other people, governments, or events that are completely outside of your ability to control, then you have no hope for your future other than depending on those people, governments or events to change. That is a pretty hopeless situation. Would you agree?
However, if you are willing to take responsibility and admit your problem is at least partly the result of the decisions you’ve made, your attitude, and your reactions to people or events, then you are in control of changing the way you think, changing your decisions and attitudes, and, ultimately, changing your situation for the better! If you are responsible for you, then there is hope!
Building a better life begins with you owning your responsibility to change your life. It begins with you!
